Yipy Snacks: Difference Between Four Stars & Five
One idea. One insight. One minute.
A Forbes inspector once told Daniel Hostettler something he never forgot.
Daniel’s team had a miss during an inspection. They started explaining why. The inspector stopped them:
“You know the difference between a four-star hotel and a five-star hotel? Four-star hotels make excuses. Five-star hotels figure out how to solve the problem.”
Daniel now leads The Boca Raton, the only Forbes quadruple Five-Star resort in the Americas. Four separate five-star ratings across the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Spa Palmera, and Flybridge fine dining, with more than 1,000 rooms, 200 acres, and 2,000 employees.
He’s been on the other side of this, too. A previous property lost a Forbes star by half a percentage point. It took a year to earn it back.
“Getting the stars is the easy part. Keeping them is where most hotels fail.”
Every hotel misses. The difference is what your team does in the moment after.
Daniel joined Adam Tuttle on the GAIN Momentum Podcast to unpack how he builds that kind of response into daily operations. The full conversation is in this edition of The Standards Playbook.
